Instructions
- 1TO MAKE SUSHI ROLLS: Pat out some rice. Lay a nori sheet on the mat, shiny-side down. Dip your hands in the vinegared water, then pat handfuls of rice on top in a 1cm thick layer, leaving the furthest edge from you clear.
- 2Spread over some Japanese mayonnaise. Use a spoon to spread out a thin layer of mayonnaise down the middle of the rice.
- 3Add the filling. Get your child to top the mayonnaise with a line of their favourite fillings – here we’ve used tuna and cucumber.

Chef tips
To prevent rice from sticking to your hands, keep a bowl of water mixed with a splash of rice vinegar nearby and dampen your palms before handling the rice. It makes the whole process much faster and easier. For a kid-friendly version, use cucumber strips and roasted sweet potato. You can swap raw fish for baked salmon or canned tuna mixed with a little mayo—a crowd-pleasing option everyone loves.
